You're 100% right. The number of students who take some online courses has been constantly growing so far (I think about 12% in 2008). Considering today's crisis, people should pay even more attention to distance learning. Online education offers lots of benefits to all people who are enough self-motivated.

I agree with most of your reasoning when it comes to higher education. I feel that when it comes to the k-12 age group the philosophy/decision process could be a little different.

How do you see this boom in online education impacting online tutoring for k-12 age group?

I could not agree more for all of the reasons stated. As the economy tightens we may see many returning to further their education. As a sahm, I find the online 24/7 flexibility makes it easy for even I to further my education. Not only the flexibility, but the cost effectiveness of one to many classes with allow online education to really reach a market that has not previously been able to participate for sake of cost, or otherwise.

I agree that online education will probably be on the rise for years to come, even if there weren't a financial crisis. It's simply a better way of learning for a lot of people and it also takes some stress off of other areas of the economy while simultaneously providing opportunity to people who couldn't normally attend post secondary school. However, I'm not exactly sure why foreign students would be particularly eager to get a US-based education, unless it's far cheaper than their local options. Last time I checked, the US is pretty low on the education ladder, for K-12 and beyond. Just because a greater portion of our population can go to college doesn't necessarily mean the schooling is any better than in other countries.

I'm already experiencing #6. I love it. I feel like I'm making a decent income, and my students who use the Euro feel like they're getting a great bargain.

With one-to-many coming soon, I think your predictions will only become more real, and eduFire will be the only one that can pull it off! :)

Also with the increasing presence of hosted training platforms more educators will be able to easily move content online and earn an income from it.
